Multicultural Telehealth Alliance (MTA)
NEWS & EVENTS
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the delivery of health-related services and information via telecommunications technologies. Telehealth delivery could be as simple as two health professionals discussing a case over the telephone, or as sophisticated as using videoconferencing between providers at facilities in two countries, or even as complex as robotic technology.
Telehealth is an expansion of telemedicine, and unlike telemedicine (which more narrowly focuses on the curative aspect) it encompasses preventive, promotive and curative aspects. Telehealth stresses a myriad of technology solutions. For example, physicians use email to communicate with patients, order drug prescriptions and provide other health services.

What is Multicultural Telehealth Alliance(MTA)?
The Multicultural Telehealth Alliance (MTA) is a professional development and fellowship program for professionals that takes into consideration issues of race and ethnicity, class, gender, and sexual orientation as they impact the development of telehealth and telemedicine services.
MTA welcomes diverse participants from traditionally under-represented populations and those whose organizations predominantly serve people of color, and low-income and working class people.
MTA provides an enriching and carefully crafted training experience that includes a forum for peers to discuss telehealth cultural challenges and strategies for overcoming them.
